Response to the Bergan press release of 09/10/2019

As a bamboo brand, I would like to clarify a few things following the press release from Bergan questioning our manufacturing processes, which were taken from blogs dating back to 2012; without any scientific basis.

The cotton industry is the 2nd most polluting industry in the world.

In the professional linen market, most of the linen is made of cotton, a cheap material that becomes rough and wears out quickly.

Bamboo viscose is an ecological and qualitative alternative that allows professionals to improve their business while reducing their expenses.

A BRAND COMMITTED TO INNOVATION

At Comptoir du Bambou, we are not content to simply buy and sell and/or to advocate "Made in France" textiles in order to give ourselves a good conscience and a positive image.

At Comptoir du Bambou, Research and Development is in the DNA of the brand and we make it a point of honour to be transparent with our customers.

We have developed a unique fibre made from bamboo and control its entire value chain to bring better products to the market.

A CONTROLLED VALUE CHAIN AND ECOLOGICAL IMPACT

While bamboo cultivation does not consume any resources, cotton cultivation occupies about 2.5% of the world's land area, consumes 25% of insecticides and 10 % of herbicides according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). For 1 kg of cotton, an average of 20,000 L of water is needed.

We select the best species of bamboo which is immediately reduced to pulp and then processed to preserve all the virtues of the bamboo.

The transformation process meets precise specifications using non-toxic solvents, unlike cotton, which is transformed using chlorine, ammonia, soda, sulphuric acid, heavy metals, formaldehyde, organic and aromatic solvents (source: ADEME, Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Énergie).

In addition, we take care to remove the starch during the production process to simplify the preparation for use by our customers.

All our products are Oeko-Tex certified, which guarantees the absence of toxic and ecologically harmful products during the manufacturing process.

CREATING VALUE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

We do not claim to deliver an environmentally friendly product to our customers, but a better thought-out product that significantly improves their daily lives.

We stand up to the programmed obsolescence of cotton linen by offering products that last 3 times longer and reduce energy costs*. Isn't this the real ecological disaster?

We believe in challenging the status quo. In the linen market, we want to bring an innovative offer, which takes into account quality, comfort and the environment to enable hoteliers to improve their service while reducing this expense item.

Our products are sought after and valued by all the players in the market (laundries, Hotels, Palaces, Spas, and even Hotel customers) who find that we make great, practical and better designed products.

We don't stop at information available on blogs, but we are out there developing our products and pampering our customers.
