Does bed linen need to be ironed?
Comptoir du Bambou bed linen is easy to care for and generally does not require ironing. This is because bamboo fibre is light, soft and silky, so there are no sharp creases. Since creases are limited, you can iron your bamboo bed linen easily and quickly.
When to wash your bed linen?
We recommend washing your bed linen regularly to maintain its cleanliness and hygiene. We recommend that you wash your sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers every 1-2 weeks, depending on how often you use them and how much you perspire. With its bamboo fibre, Fibre B., Comptoir du Bambou can develop bathrobes in several different weaves: sponge, honeycomb and velvet.

- For a cosy comfort, choose velvet or sponge. Comptoir du Bambou has developed its new Natural Confort range with velvet on the outside and terry cloth on the inside. The bathrobes are comfortable and absorbent while remaining breathable. No sensation of overheating as with microfibre.
- For more lightness and for hotels located in the south of France (Côte d'Azur and Côte Basque), the Caribbean, the south of Europe...), or in warm places, opt for honeycomb bathrobes.

Bamboo
What is Fibre B®?
Fibre B® is a textile fibre that we have worked on to offer one of the best linens on the market. It is a clever blend of a certain species of bamboo selected for its incredible virtues and Egyptian cotton. Fibre B® is the best textile fibre in the world: high quality, very comfortable and resistant. Its silky, luxurious feel gives you the emotion of direct contact with nature.
What is the difference between bamboo fibre and ecological cotton linen?
Fibre B® is mainly made of bamboo, which gives it an incomparable softness and resistance to any test. The addition of a little cotton adds softness and thickness to the linen, but in a limited quantity to avoid the roughness it can have. The combination of these two materials means that there is no compromise between softness, strength, durability and comfort.
What is the difference between Fibre B® and other bamboo fibres?
The creation of our fibre is the result of several months of research and development work. Our objective was to offer a more resistant, softer, ecological and qualitative linen. However, many bamboo-based products are the result of heavy chemical processes, with bamboo coming from all over the world. On our side, we cultivate an invasive species that must be harvested to preserve biodiversity, we then extract our fibre and weave in our partner factories with controlled and mastered processes.
What type of bamboo is used for Comptoir du Bambou sheets?
Comptoir du Bambou sheets are mainly made from bamboo fibres from the Moso bamboo variety. Generally speaking, Moso bamboo is one of the best types of bamboo because of its high quality, resistance and durability.
Moso bamboo is a species of giant bamboo native to China, which grows in a variety of climatic conditions, generally in the equatorial part of the globe. For our part, in order to limit our carbon footprint, the bamboo we use is grown in Egypt.
After our research and development tests, we chose this species of bamboo because the fibres of Moso bamboo have a good density, which makes it easy to mix with other fibres such as cotton or linen. In addition, once the Moso bamboo has been transformed into Fibre B, it is very resistant, and offers a high level of comfort and exceptional softness. The lightness and flexibility of Fibre B. makes our sheets less crumpled than other brands that sell cotton sheets.
Bamboo was the source of the creation of B. Fiber and is therefore at the heart of the manufacture of Comptoir du Bambou linen. B. fibre sheets are highly appreciated for their softness, their thermoregulatory capacities, their resistance to humidity and their durability, which makes them particularly suitable for use in summer or in hot and humid climates.
Certifications
Is Comptoir du Bambou linen "Made in France"?
The French textile industry no longer designs linens in France for reasons of cost and technology. At Comptoir du Bambou, we have chosen the best technological tools to produce luxury linen at an affordable price. The weaving of the bamboo towels is done in our partner factories based in Eastern Europe and Portugal. Our partners have all the certifications that ensure the quality of the products and the respect of the work.
Does Comptoir du Bambou have any ecological certifications?
Yes, all of our linens for both professional and private use are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, which means that they are free of chemicals and toxic products for the body and the environment.
We pay attention to every step of the manufacturing process from the harvesting of the bamboo and cotton, through the ecologically and socially certified manufacturing, to the delivery. We try to reduce our CO2 emissions and we try to independently certify each step. Our aim is to combine respect for the environment, workers and consumers.
What does the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 guarantee?
The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an international certification standard for textiles that guarantees that textile products do not contain substances harmful to human health.
The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label is awarded by the International Association for Research and Testing in Environmental Textiles (Oeko-Tex), an independent and impartial organisation based in Switzerland.
To obtain the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, textile products must undergo rigorous testing by independent laboratories for the presence of harmful substances such as heavy metals, pesticides, azo dyes and formaldehydes.
The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification is recognised worldwide and is widely used in the textile industry to ensure that products are safe for consumers and environmentally friendly. Textile products certified to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 are often regarded as superior products in terms of safety, quality and sustainability.
At Comptoir du Bambou, all our textile products are certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100.
Why is Comptoir du Bambou's linen not GOTS certified?
Linen made from bamboo fibre may not be GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified for several reasons. Firstly, bamboo is a fast-growing plant that does not require the use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers to grow. It is the most environmentally friendly material in the world as it grows by itself. For the production of bamboo fibres we have developed a closed system process to be environmentally friendly and to improve our environmental footprint.
In addition, the GOTS standard is specific to textiles such as cotton in order to control and regulate that the cultivation limits the use of chemicals and toxic products and must be manufactured in conditions that respect the environment and the social rights of workers.
However, there are other certifications to guarantee the quality and durability of bamboo products, such as the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification which guarantees the absence of harmful substances in textiles.
What is the design process for Fibre B.?
B-Fibre is a bamboo fibre made from cellulose regenerated from bamboo pulp. The manufacturing process of Fibre B. is one of the most environmentally friendly manufacturing processes
Comptoir du Bambou uses a non-toxic organic solvent to dissolve the bamboo pulp.
Here are the main steps in the transformation process to create our bamboo fibre, Fibre B. :
- Preparation of bamboo pulp: The pulp is ground and treated with chemicals to remove the lignin and hemicellulose, leaving the cellulose pure.
- Dissolution of cellulose: Cellulose is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent, usually N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO), to form a viscous solution.
- Spinning Fibre B.: The cellulose solution is spun through tiny holes to form threads. The threads are then drawn and twisted to form lyocell fibres.
- Washing: In order to remove solvent residues and impurities, the bamboo fibres are washed and rinsed.
- Drying and finishing: The bamboo fibres are then dried and coated with starch to prepare the fibre for weaving.
In order to limit our environmental impact and improve our manufacturing process, Fibre B. is designed in a closed system.
The production of Fibre B. requires less water and energy than the production of cotton or other synthetic fibres.
